LED's in Model Rail and DCC

Hi All,

I have experimented with LEDs for a number of years. Love the light output for very little current and heat.
I believe colour is very important when choosing LEDs DCCconcepts have a number of good options.
I like to use warm white for most applications as this light seems to me a little more natural.

Some of the projects I have done include buildings and locomotives and other rolling stock.
here are some links to PDF documents showing what I have been playing with.

  1. Hi there,
You say that you combine a SMD LED with a 3mm T LED. Why do you have to do that? What is the aim? To get a longer body?

  2. I Combined a Red SMD with a 3mm Warm White 3mm T LED to make a two colour light Source . I have used the 3 T3 LEDs in a number of older Fleischmann Steam loco when the original light directors with bulb have been missing. But this time I needed some extra space in a BR80 to add a speaker. Using the 3 LEDs gives quite a lot of extra space.
You can buy two colour LEDs but it is difficult to get the exact colour warm white unless you get a large production run of LEDs and have them custom designed.
